Postdoctoral Assistant in Green Chemistry and Technology (Physicochemical Water Technology & Resource Recovery)
Ghent University is seeking a postdoctoral assistant for the Department of Green Chemistry and Technology, Faculty of Bioscience Engineering. The position focuses on academic research in the physicochemical aspects of water technology and resource recovery, with at least 70% of the assignment dedicated to research. The successful candidate will also assist in teaching activities at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels, specifically in environmental technology, water treatment, resource recovery, environmental technical installations, and scientific methodology. Responsibilities include organizing courses, guest lectures, company visits, and counseling Master’s and doctoral students in their academic work and dissertations. Applicants must hold a doctoral degree and, if awarded outside the EU, provide a certificate of equivalence (NARIC). Candidates should have a strong research background in the relevant field, a record of scientific publications, and an interest in student coaching. Experience in translating research into industrial applications and an extended industrial network are required, while experience in guiding doctoral research and writing project proposals is considered an asset. Didactic, communicative, and organizational skills are essential, and experience with popular science communication is valued. Proficiency in Dutch is mandatory for teaching in Dutch-taught Bachelor’s programmes, and a high level of English is required. The appointment is temporary for three years, with the possibility of renewal for another three years upon positive evaluation.
