Postdoctoral Research Associate
This postdoctoral research associate position is offered in the Bendable Electronics and Sustainable Technologies (BEST) Group at Northeastern University, led by Professor Ravinder Dahiya. The BEST group is dedicated to pioneering advances in the development of sensors and electronic devices using sustainable materials and resource-efficient printed electronics on flexible substrates. The group’s research is multidisciplinary, with innovative applications in robotics, wearable systems, and interactive technologies. The successful candidate will contribute to projects that aim to fundamentally change how electronic devices are designed and used, focusing on sustainability and flexibility. Key research areas include high-mobility materials based printed electronics, transient electronics (sensors, circuits, energy devices), degradable materials, micro/nanofabrication, nanowire synthesis, tactile sensing, haptics, electronic skin, and their integration into robotics and wearable systems. Candidates should have hands-on experience with simulation tools such as Multiphysics finite element analysis, Matlab, and Labview, as well as cleanroom experience and device characterization. System-level integration and haptics feedback in real and virtual agents are considered advantageous. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent in a relevant engineering or science discipline and demonstrate progressively responsible research experience, including planning, execution, management, mentoring, and supervision. The role involves regular interaction with an interdisciplinary team and offers opportunities to supervise graduate students, contribute to research publications and proposals, and manage complex projects. Strong interpersonal, communication, documentation, time-management, and organizational skills are essential. Experience in proposal preparation and project management is a plus. Northeastern University provides a comprehensive benefits package for eligible employees, including medical, vision, dental, paid time off, tuition assistance, wellness and life support, retirement contributions, and commuting/transportation options. The expected hiring range for this position is $59,423.00 to $83,934.50, with the final salary dependent on education, experience, and expertise. Applications should include a letter addressing the selection criteria, a CV, a print of prior scientific publications, and contact information for 3-5 references, submitted via the university’s careers website. The university is committed to equal opportunity and encourages all qualified applicants to apply.
