Oregon State University is offering a funded PhD position in Anthropology with a focus on Artificial Intelligence, mapping, and Amazon forest research. The opportunity is led by Associate Professor Shaozeng Zhang, whose expertise spans anthropology and engineering. The research will address topics such as Amazon forest conservation, environmental and climate change, geospatial science, crowd-sourced mapping, and the environmental/carbon footprints of AI and human-AI collaboration. Applicants must have a master's degree in anthropology or a closely related field, proficiency in English and Portuguese, and experience with qualitative and quantitative data analysis in the social sciences.
