PhD Position in Social Anthropology at Lund University
Lund University is inviting applications for a fully funded PhD position in Social Anthropology at the Department of Sociology. The doctoral program consists of 240 credits (four years of full-time study) and culminates in a public defense of the doctoral thesis. The main language of instruction is English, but non-Swedish speakers are expected to acquire basic Swedish during their studies, with language courses available at the university.
Doctoral students receive a monthly salary for four years, with the possibility of departmental duties such as teaching (up to 20% of working hours), which can extend the appointment. The position is governed by the Swedish Higher Education Ordinance, ensuring strong employment conditions. Eligibility requirements include a second-cycle (Master's) degree or equivalent, with at least 240 credits (including 60 at the second cycle), and a background in Social Anthropology or a closely related field. Applicants should be highly motivated, able to work independently, and possess strong collaboration and communication skills, as well as proficiency in written and spoken English. The selection process is based on the quality and originality of submitted papers and research plan, as well as personal suitability. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed and may be asked to provide additional work samples.
