Quantum Sensing

Stockholm University is offering a PhD position in Theoretical Physics, focusing on quantum sensing. The successful candidate will join the research group led by Assistant Professor Sofia Qvarfort, based at Nordita and the Department of Physics, as part of the Wallenberg Initiative on Networks and Quantum Information (WINQ). The project explores quantum sensing, a cutting-edge quantum technology that leverages quantum resources like coherence and entanglement to achieve high-precision measurements. Research will involve theoretical investigations of nonlinear quantum systems, using quantum information theory and quantum metrology, and may include applications to mechanical resonators or quantum sensor networks. The position is full-time for up to four years, with a fixed salary and opportunities for international travel and conference presentations. Applicants must have a BSc in Physics or equivalent, with substantial second-cycle coursework and a degree project, and demonstrate proficiency in English. Selection is based on academic merit, creativity, independence, and collaboration skills.
