Postdoctoral Fellow in Precision RNA Therapeutics for Rare Cancers at McGill University

McGill University’s D2R Translational Impact Initiative, in collaboration with the Jerry Pelletier Initiative, is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to join a cutting-edge research program focused on developing next-generation RNA-based therapeutics for rare cancers. This opportunity is embedded within Canada’s flagship RNA translational initiative and offers direct access to an in-house RNA Therapeutics Platform, integrated patient-derived modeling infrastructure, and national and international collaborations. The successful candidate will work in the Duchaine laboratory and across the D2R rare cancer initiative, leveraging the McGill RNA Therapeutics Platform to advance therapeutic candidates toward IND-enabling pre-clinical packages. The project integrates rapid long-read genomics, multi-omics target discovery, functional genomic screening (RNAi & CRISPR-based), precision RNA design and chemical optimization, RNA engineering, lipid nanoparticle formulation and delivery, and patient-derived organoid and xenograft models. The role involves leading the design, validation, and optimization of RNA therapeutic candidates, coordinating with genomics, modeling, and bioinformatics teams, interfacing with clinician-scientists, contributing to high-impact publications and grant development, and shaping an emerging RNA therapeutics pipeline within D2R. Applicants must have a PhD in Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, Molecular Genetics, or a related discipline, with strong expertise in mammalian cell culture, gene editing, RNA analysis, and functional molecular assays. A solid quantitative and biostatistical foundation and the ability to thrive in interdisciplinary, team-based research are essential. Highly valued skills include cancer functional genomics or screening, therapeutic RNA biology (siRNA, mRNA, CRISPR, delivery technologies), chemical biology or nucleic acid engineering, and pre-clinical therapeutic development experience. The appointment is for a 2-year term, renewable based on progress, with competitive compensation according to McGill University scales. The review of applications begins immediately, and the start date is flexible. This position is designed as a launchpad toward independent academic, biotech, or translational leadership careers. Interested candidates should submit a CV, research statement, and references to [email protected].
