A fully funded PhD position is available at Saarland University in the Research Training Group 3082, focusing on engineering covalent bonds in molecules and materials, specifically MXene nanoconfinement for battery and energy storage applications. The project is coordinated by Professors Volker Presser and David Scheschkewitz and is funded by the DFG (German Research Foundation). The successful candidate will synthesize MXene and other 2D nanomaterials, functionalize interlayer spaces, and study confinement effects for electrochemical applications. Tasks include material and electrochemical characterization, data analysis, and collaboration within a large research network and with industrial partners.
