Single cell multi-omics to interrogate tumour cell responses of epigenetic targeting therapies

A fully funded PhD position is available in the Bioinformatics & Biostatistics Team at the National Biomarker Centre, Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute, University of Manchester. The project, supervised by Vsevolod Makeev, focuses on developing computational methods to process and analyse single cell multi-omics (scMultiome) data to interrogate tumour cell responses to epigenetic targeting therapies, specifically the EZH2 inhibitor Tazemetostat in small cell lung cancer (SCLC). The research aims to discover mechanisms of transcriptional alteration and resistance, and to identify predictive or therapy monitoring biomarkers. The studentship is ideal for candidates with a strong foundation in computational analysis, bioinformatics, computational biology, or statistical data analysis, and a keen interest in molecular biology and cancer research. Applicants should have or expect a First or upper-second class undergraduate degree in a relevant subject; Masters-level or laboratory research experience in cancer is advantageous but not required.
