Funding details

The scholarship is fully funded, providing a stipend of AUD 33,533 per annum (tax free, standard ARC rate for 2025) for 3 years, with the possibility of a 6-month extension. Tuition fees are covered for Australian and New Zealand citizens and permanent residents via a Research Training Program Fee Offset Scholarship. International applicants will receive an international tuition fee waiver, applied for on their behalf. The scholarship is open to both domestic and international students.

What's required

Applicants must meet PhD admission requirements, including an Australian Honours degree Class 1 or 2A or equivalent qualification (at least AQF Level 8) with a research component of at least 6 months’ full-time study achieving Distinction (75%), or provide evidence of equivalent research experience such as a substantial first-author refereed publication or track record as an investigator on a competitive grant. A background in Hydrogeology, Water Resources Engineering, Hydrology/Hydraulics, Environmental Science, Remote Sensing or a related field is required. Prior experience in computer modelling and coding, or demonstrated experience in field-based techniques in hydrogeology and the interpretation and analysis of field data is desirable but not mandatory. Strong writing and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary and international research team are essential. Applicants must be available to commence as a full-time PhD student at Flinders University in 2026.
