Croatian Government Scholarships

The Croatian Government Scholarships for the academic year 2026/2027 offer exciting opportunities for international PhD students and postdoctoral researchers to conduct research in Croatia. The main research focus is on the electrical and catalytical properties of glass and glass-ceramics, with positions available at the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, Department of Chemistry. The programme supports both full PhD studies and short-term PhD research stays, as well as postdoctoral research visits ranging from 1 to 10 months.

Applicants must secure a host supervisor in Croatia and obtain a Letter of Invitation as part of the application process. The scholarship provides monthly financial support, subsidized accommodation, and the opportunity to collaborate with accredited Croatian institutions. The application process requires submission of documents in English or Croatian, and in some cases, nomination by the applicant’s national authority or a recommendation letter from a Croatian language professor.

The Bilateral Scholarships are open to citizens of countries with a valid educational cooperation programme or bilateral agreement with Croatia, as well as to students of Croatian language abroad.
