100%, fixed-term Eawag, the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology, is an internationally networked aquatic research institute within the ETH Domain (Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology). Eawag conducts research, education and expert consulting to achieve the dual goals of meeting direct human needs for water and maintaining the function and integrity of aquatic ecosystems.Professorship in Pathogen Evolution (ETH Zurich and Eawag) is seeking a highly motivated PhD Candidate to study drug resistance evolution in various pathogens through population genetic modelling and pharmacodynamic data analysis.Project background The project's main objective is to extract and analyze large amounts of pharmacodynamic data from various sources and design a user-friendly database. Through advanced data mining and machine learning techniques, we will extract valuable data from databases, data repositories and non-strucured data sources (e.g. scientific articles and supplementary materials) across various disciplines, and identify the patterns in trends in these data.The project website  provides more information about the project. The position is for 48 months. Job description Profile The candidate is able to work independently as well as part of a small team, has strong self-motivation and is able to develop new skills to explore new topics. The project requires the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment, and excellent communication and data analysis skills. The working language is English.Strong candidates have a master degree in Data analysis, Mathematics, Physics, Computer science, or a related field.
