A fully funded PhD position is available at the University of Calgary, Canada, in the Department of Earth, Energy and Environment. The project, titled “Geological characterization and mapping to identify potential areas for installation of a medium-depth geothermal system in Alberta,” is part of a larger multidisciplinary initiative focused on sustainable medium-depth solutions with solid media thermal energy storage for heating and cooling. The successful candidate will join a diverse research group led by Professor Per Kent Pedersen.

Applicants should have a strong background in stratigraphy, sedimentology, and basin analysis, with experience in evaluating well logs and production tests. Familiarity with GIS database programs is an asset. The start date is January 1, 2026, and applicants must be eligible for a Canadian student visa by December 2025.
