About this position
?? I am hiring a PhD (Spring or Fall 2026) and a Postdoc! Join me to become the founding member of the flood lab!
I will be joining the University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder) in Fall 2025 as a tenure-track Assistant Professor after completing my Stanford Dean’s Postdoctoral Fellowship, and I am launching a new research group focused on cutting-edge flood science and AI4Science applications.
What we work on
• High-resolution flood modelling and risk assessment
• Extreme hydro-meteorological events under climate change
• AI-powered science: deep learning, large language models and agents
• Coupled remote-sensing analyses linking floods to public-health and economic outcomes
My mentoring style
Hands-on and practical.
Open positions
• PhD students starting Spring / Fall 2026. Backgrounds in civil engineering, remote sensing, computer science, AI, hydrology or related areas are ideal. Full tuition + RA/TA stipend (~USD 33-36 k year) + health insurance + conference support.
• Post-doctoral researcher beginning late 2025. Expertise in flood models, large-scale remote sensing, deep learning, LLMs or agents. Annual salary USD 65 k (benefits included) plus travel and proposal-writing support.
