The University of Liège is announcing a full-time academic position in the field of Resilience in Civil Engineering, located within the Department of Architecture, Geology and Civil Engineering (ArGEnCo) of the School of Engineering and Computer Science. The position focuses on research and teaching in resilience of civil infrastructure and urban systems, with particular emphasis on fire safety engineering, seismic engineering, risk management, and sustainability. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary environment with opportunities for collaboration across structural dynamics, building data modeling, urban planning, and mobility research.

Key responsibilities include teaching courses such as Fire Safety Engineering (GCIV2042), Seismic Engineering (GCIV2050), Resilience and Constructions in Urban Areas (UEEN0003), and Conceptual Design and Construction Methods of Buildings (GCIV0646), all in English. The candidate will also participate in curriculum development, supervise internships and final projects, and contribute to the academic council for the Master Degree in Civil Engineering and Architecture.

Research activities will center on resilience, defined as the ability of systems (buildings, infrastructure, cities) to absorb disturbances while maintaining essential functions. Priority areas include fire engineering, seismic engineering, risk management, performance-based design, and analysis of resilience to hazards such as fires, earthquakes, and floods. The position encourages applications from diverse backgrounds and aims to foster international research collaborations.

Applicants must hold a PhD in engineering sciences and technology or equivalent, have international research experience with publications in reputable journals and conferences, and be able to teach in English.
