Fully Funded PhD Positions in AI for Electric Vehicle Fleets and Sustainable Transport Monash University in Canada

Two fully funded PhD positions are available at Monash University, Australia, within the Department of Data Science and AI, Faculty of Information Technology, under an ARC ECIF project focused on AI for Electrified Transportation.

The project is centered on AI, electric vehicle fleets, sustainable transport, energy-aware route planning, charging optimisation, transport optimisation, and real-time customised route planning. The research is described as highly research-intensive, with close collaboration with industry partners and a strong emphasis on scalable algorithms and real-world impact.

Applicants should have a strong background in graph algorithms, combinatorial optimisation, and machine learning, plus excellent mathematical and quantitative skills. Advanced programming ability in Python and/or C++ is required. The post also asks for an excellent academic record and proven research experience, ideally with publications in top-tier venues such as AAAI, IJCAI, ICAPS, or similar.

Preferred backgrounds include complex network systems, planning and scheduling, heuristic search, network optimisation, and operations research.
