The Institute of Uralic Studies at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU Munich) is offering a funded PhD position within the DFG project “Northern Mansi Corpus (NOMAC): A century and more of Northern Mansi in a diachronic corpus.” This project aims to create a comprehensive diachronic corpus of the Northern Mansi language and to conduct research on language change under contact pressure. The position is supervised by Professor Ksenia Shagal, a leading academic in Uralic Studies.

The PhD position is a 65% employment based on the E13 TV-L salary grade, with a duration of 2 years and 9 months. The successful candidate will work in Munich, Germany, and will join a collaborative research team focused on corpus linguistics, diachronic linguistics, and Finno-Ugric languages. The project offers an excellent opportunity for candidates interested in Uralic studies, digital humanities, and language change research.

Applicants should have a strong background in linguistics, with a preference for experience in Uralic studies, corpus linguistics, or diachronic linguistics. Proficiency in English is expected, and additional skills in digital humanities or computational methods are considered advantageous.
