Our collaboration will leverage the state-of-the-art facilities at Loughborough Materials Characterisation Centre (LMCC) , Loughborough University , where we'll examine components extracted from operational plant. Our goal is to track the behavior of chemical elements and microstructural features throughout their lifecycle, especially after exposure to the harsh environment of high-temperature combustion furnaces. ????
As part of this, we will soon be advertising a fully funded PhD studentship for this project. We're on the lookout for passionate engineering and physical sciences graduates who are eager to dive into materials characterisation and explore these complex microstructures and to contribute towards the further decarbonisation of the UK's waste sector. ???
