The MSc programme in AgriGenomics at Kiel University offers a unique opportunity to study genomics methods—both molecular and computational—in the context of agricultural sciences, focusing on crops and animals. The curriculum begins with foundational courses in molecular and computational biology, followed by practical and applied modules in plant and animal breeding, crop protection, and excursions to major agricultural companies. Students can undertake internships at various departments within Kiel University or at associated research institutes, gaining hands-on experience in the field.

The programme is designed to provide in-depth knowledge in genomics, bioinformatics, and molecular breeding, enabling students to analyze and apply biological data in plant, animal, and microbiome research for sustainable agriculture and food production. Specializations include plant genomics, microbial communities in agroecosystems, and livestock genetics. The Centre for Molecular Biosciences (ZMB) at Kiel University is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including a Next Generation Sequencing Platform and advanced genotyping tools.

Applicants must hold a Bachelor degree in Agricultural Sciences, Biology, Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, Genetics, or related fields with an ECTS grade of B- or better. Proof of English proficiency is required (TOEFL, IELTS, or equivalent). Students from India, China, and Vietnam must provide an APS certificate.
