Örebro University is offering a PhD position in pedagogy with a focus on environmental and sustainability education, based in the ESERGO research group. ESERGO is a collaborative environment with 12 researchers and doctoral students, conducting didactic research on environmental and sustainability education, emphasizing political and ethical dimensions. The group is involved in major projects combining empirical studies with theory development and the creation of didactic models for teachers, with a strong societal focus. The doctoral position is full-time for four years, starting in spring 2026, and includes a monthly salary of 31,300 SEK.

The position may involve up to 20% teaching, administration, or other research duties, with corresponding extension and funding. Tuition is covered, and doctoral students benefit from a tailored seminar series and comprehensive support. Applicants must have a master's degree or equivalent, or 240 ECTS credits (with at least 60 at the advanced level), and at least 90 ECTS in pedagogy, didactics, or educational work, including a 15 ECTS independent project. Alternatively, a teaching degree with a 15 ECTS independent project in pedagogy or didactics is accepted.

Proficiency in Swedish and English is required. Application documents include CV, degree certificates, transcripts, independent project, and a statement of interest (2–5 pages) outlining research theme, questions, overview, and theoretical/methodological reflections.
