About this position
The Sooner Advanced Manufacturing Lab at the University of Oklahoma is seeking highly motivated PhD students and postdoctoral researchers to join a dynamic, interdisciplinary team at the forefront of advanced manufacturing science. The lab, part of the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering, is led by Professor Kash Barker and faculty colleagues, and offers opportunities to work on cutting-edge research in areas such as AI/ML-driven in-situ monitoring, predictive modeling for manufacturing, metal additive process development, and full lifecycle management of manufacturing research.
Applicants for the PhD program should have backgrounds in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Materials Science. The lab values candidates who are curious, hands-on, and passionate about innovation in manufacturing. Some sponsored projects require U.S. citizenship or permanent residency. Postdoctoral candidates should hold a PhD in a relevant field, have a strong publication record, and demonstrate expertise in sensor integration, finite element modeling (FEM), or metal additive manufacturing experimentation. Postdocs will benefit from competitive compensation, full benefits, and professional development opportunities including proposal writing mentorship, project management experience, and career guidance.
The research environment features state-of-the-art facilities, including industrial-scale additive manufacturing systems and advanced materials characterization tools. The lab collaborates on sponsored, mission-driven projects with high impact. Appointment for postdocs is initially for one year, renewable up to three years based on performance and funding. To apply, send your resume or CV to [email protected] or submit your application via Interfolio. For more information, visit the lab's LinkedIn announcement or contact Professor Kash Barker directly.
