How to apply
Submit your application through the Kristiania University of Applied Sciences application portal. Include a motivation letter, diplomas and transcripts, CV, at least two references, master’s thesis, and a project proposal (up to 4 pages, in English). Admission to the PhD programme is required within three months of the start date. Only applications received via the portal will be considered.
Requirements
Applicants must have a Master’s degree (120 ECTS or equivalent) in a relevant subject area with a grade B or better on both the master’s thesis and overall degree, and a relevant 180 ECTS bachelor’s degree. Analytical and technical skills relevant to applied information technology, especially in human–computer interaction and frontend AI development, are required. Experience with programming and digital tools for AI, immersive, or interactive system development (e.g., Python, Unity, Unreal, TouchDesigner) is expected. Demonstrated creative or artistic competence (such as digital art, media production, creative coding, or interaction design) and understanding of user-centred or participatory design methods are required. Proficiency in both written and spoken English is mandatory. Candidates should demonstrate interest in interdisciplinary collaboration across technology, arts, and design, and ideally have familiarity with ethical, cultural, or societal perspectives on AI and digital creativity, as well as knowledge of evaluation methods for user experience or creative collaboration. Personal qualities such as curiosity, motivation for independent research, good communication and cooperation skills, and the ability to work systematically and purposefully are emphasized.
