Description

Two fully funded PhD opportunities are available in the field of extracellular vesicle (EV) biology, focusing on cross-kingdom communication and single EV detection. These positions are offered through the BBSRC Yorkshire Bioscience Doctoral Training Partnership (YBDTP), a collaboration between leading universities in Yorkshire, including Sheffield Hallam University and the University of Sheffield.

The YBDTP brings together world-class research in biosciences and biotechnology, aiming to train the next generation of bioscientists for careers in academia, industry, policy, and civil society. The partnership is supported by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) and includes multiple partner universities across the region.

Successful candidates will join a vibrant research community and benefit from extensive industry collaboration, expert supervision, and access to state-of-the-art facilities. The projects will explore innovative aspects of EV biology, with a particular emphasis on cross-kingdom communication and advanced detection methods for single EVs.

Applicants should hold or expect to achieve a good honours degree in a relevant bioscience or related discipline. A keen interest in EV biology and related research areas is essential. The positions are fully funded, covering tuition fees and providing a stipend at the UKRI standard rate. Additional training and research support are available.

To apply, visit the Yorkshire Bioscience DTP website to browse available projects and follow the application instructions. For further information or project-specific enquiries, contact the supervisors directly. The application deadline is December 28, 2024.
