The Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) at the University of Potsdam offers a PhD position in its renowned Research School for Systems Design, located in Potsdam, Germany. This programme is part of the Faculty of Digital Engineering, a joint initiative between HPI and the University of Potsdam, and provides an outstanding environment for doctoral researchers in computer science and digital technologies.

Several student dormitories are available, and students may also seek private housing in Potsdam or Berlin.

Funding opportunities are available through the HPI Research Schools, which annually grant new full scholarships to PhD candidates. These scholarships provide an excellent research environment, close mentorship, access to HPI’s data lab, and significant travel funding, and are not subject to income tax.

Applicants should prepare a curriculum vitae, copies of certificates/transcripts, a brief research proposal (mentioning suitable HPI research groups), work samples (such as a Master's thesis), and a letter of recommendation.
