PhD Position: University Assistant Prae-Doc in Statistics and Mathematical Methods in Economics (30 hours/week, 3 years) TU Wien in Austria

TU Wien, Austria's largest institution for research and higher education in technology and natural sciences, is offering a PhD position as University Assistant Prae-Doc at the Institute of Statistics and Mathematical Methods in Economics. The position is based in the Research Unit of Variational Analysis, Dynamics and Operations Research and is limited to 3 years at 30 hours per week, with an expected start date in September 2026. The successful candidate will participate in a joint project with the University of Brest, including an extended research stay in France.

The role involves collaboration on research and teaching tasks, guidance of students, active participation in research and project activities, dissertation writing, publication of scientific work, and involvement in scientific events. Organizational and administrative support is also expected. The research focus includes applied mathematics, statistics, control theory, optimization, and variational analysis, with opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and international experience.

Applicants must have completed or be about to complete a master's degree in applied mathematics or a closely related field.
