Applicants must hold a master's degree in forestry and have a solid background in forest management, strong technical skills in programming, and experience with machine learning. Candidates should be interested in the intersection of digital solutions (AI) and forest management, and possess good knowledge of operational forestry techniques. Admission requirements for the PhD program at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) must be met, including 120 ECTS credits as part of the master's thesis. Applicants must not have previously been employed as a PhD candidate at NIBIO. Fluency in English (spoken and written) is required. If lacking Norwegian, Swedish, or Danish at level A2, free Norwegian language training will be provided. Experience in scientific work and proficiency in a Scandinavian language are evaluated positively. Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills, ability to work under pressure, and enthusiasm for collaborative research are expected.
