Iron powder presents a promising alternative for high-density energy storage, if we can harness the reduction of iron oxides back into iron using green hydrogen, while maintaining the necessary powder properties. In this project, we address this challenge by developing and scaling up a fluidized bed process. You'll get hands-on with a unique experimental setup for high-temperature fluidization, develop a new theoretical framework using CFD-DEM modeling, and collaborate closely with other research groups and industry partners working on metal fuels technology.
