About this position

The Advanced Networking Lab at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Eindhoven University of Technology, invites applications for a postdoctoral position focused on resilient 6G wireless networks. This role is part of innovative European and Dutch national projects, including PHRESH and Luchtvaart in Transitie, and offers the opportunity to work alongside a dynamic team of PhD researchers in a cutting-edge research environment.

Network resilience is a key performance indicator for future 6G networks, ensuring that critical services such as energy, education, healthcare, and emergency response can rely on robust and adaptive wireless connectivity. The lab’s research spans ultra-reliable low latency communications, resource allocation, digital twins, distributed massive MIMO, and flexible compute continuum for 6G RAN open architectures. Facilities include a fully opensource OpenRAN-compliant 5G/6G testbed, commercial radio units, software-defined radios, a shielded measurement room, anechoic chamber, system integration lab, and a distributed MIMO testbed.

The successful candidate will develop and validate protocols and algorithms to enhance network situational awareness, detect and recover from disruptions (such as jamming or attacks), and advance resilient wireless systems using multi-connectivity, spectrum sensing, optimization theory, and AI/ML techniques. Responsibilities include collaborative research with industry, teaching and mentoring at BSc/MSc levels, project management, supervising PhD researchers, coordinating lab experiments, and contributing to scientific proposals for new funding.

Applicants must have a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Applied Physics, or a related field, with a strong academic record and research experience in wireless networking and mobile communications. Experience with simulation and experimental tools (e.g., Open-air interface, srsRAN, NS3, software-defined radios) is valued. Candidates should demonstrate creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, and fluency in English (C1 level). Motivation to develop teaching skills and coach students is also expected.

The position offers a full-time contract for 2 years, with a competitive salary (scale 10: €4,241–€5,538), year-end bonus, vacation pay, and extensive benefits including training, technical infrastructure, childcare, sports facilities, parental leave, commuting and home working allowances, and support for international candidates. The TU/e Postdoc Association and Staff Immigration Team provide additional support for career and personal development.

Applications must be submitted online and include a cover letter, CV with publications and references, and up to five selected best publications. The vacancy remains open until filled, with priority given to complete applications. For further information, contact Prof. George Exarchakos or Prof. Kishor Joshi. Please do not send applications by email or post.
