About this position

ETH Zürich invites applications for a Postdoc in Resilient Satellite Navigation (GNSS) within the Chair of Space Geodesy, led by Prof. Benedikt Soja. This position is ideal for researchers passionate about advancing navigation technologies to address the challenges of signal interference, jamming, and spoofing. The team is recognized for pioneering work in machine learning applications for Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) and geomonitoring, including signal characterization and anomaly detection.

The successful candidate will lead GNSS-based research, focusing on developing next-generation navigation software and multi-sensor fusion strategies. Responsibilities include software development using Factor Graph Optimization, implementing sensor fusion, advancing real-time GNSS processing for resilience, integrating AI/ML concepts, and working with both high-grade and low-cost GNSS equipment. The role also involves academic leadership, co-authoring publications, grant application preparation, and supporting teaching and supervision of PhD and Master students.

Applicants must hold a PhD in Geodesy, Geomatics, Aerospace Engineering, Signal Processing, or a related field, with proven GNSS data analysis and processing experience. Strong programming skills (Python, C++) and fluency in English are required. Experience with Factor Graph Optimization, multi-sensor fusion, or AI/ML applications is advantageous. CH/EU/EFTA citizenship or a valid Swiss work permit and proficiency in German are preferred. Candidates should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, be comfortable in interdisciplinary teams, and be self-motivated and curious about emerging AI technologies.
