About this position

Professor Jia Liu's Bioengineering Lab at the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences is recruiting multiple postdoctoral fellows for two distinct research areas: Neuroscience for Brain-Computer Interfaces and Nanoelectronics/Flexible Electronics. The lab focuses on developing tissue-integrated flexible bioelectronic systems and AI tools for multimodal biological measurement and control, with applications in neuroscience, regenerative medicine, and translational bioengineering.

1) Postdoctoral Fellow in Neuroscience for Brain-Computer Interfaces: This position seeks candidates with a strong background in neuroscience, capable of independently conducting research. Focus areas include animal behavior, tissue regeneration, multi-omics, and in vivo electrophysiology. Responsibilities include designing and executing animal experiments, analyzing multimodal biological data, and developing statistical/ML workflows. Preferred experience includes hands-on expertise in in vivo electrophysiology or behavioral paradigms, integrating multi-omics or imaging with functional readouts, and strong coding skills (Python/Matlab).

2) Postdoctoral Fellow in Nanoelectronics/Flexible Electronics: This position is for candidates with extensive expertise in nanofabrication, particularly cleanroom fabrication. The fellow will design and fabricate nanoelectronics and flexible electronics, collaborating with biologists and clinicians to apply these devices in biological and medical research. Preferred experience includes a track record in flexible electronics, soft materials, implantable bioelectronics, device packaging, reliability testing, biocompatible materials, and familiarity with micro/nano-characterization tools (e.g., SEM, AFM).

Eligibility: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a relevant field (electrical engineering, neuroscience, bioengineering, materials science, or related discipline), a strong publication record, and excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively is essential. Minimum of 2 references required.
