About this position

The Kannan group at the Center for Nanomedicine, Johns Hopkins University, is seeking multiple postdoctoral fellows for a new position in dendrimer chemistry, nanomedicine, and drug delivery, available from March 1, 2026. The research focuses on the development of multi-functional nanodevices and novel dendrimer nanomedicines/conjugation chemistry for therapeutic applications, with strong translational and start-up potential. The group collaborates with various medical departments, including ophthalmology, anesthesiology, critical care, neuroscience, and drug discovery, leveraging state-of-the-art facilities at the Wilmer Eye Institute.

Applicants should have a doctoral degree in organic, inorganic, dendrimer/polymer, pharmaceutical chemistry, or chemical engineering, with significant experience in innovative synthesis approaches, such as dendrimer/polymer synthesis, drug conjugation, linker chemistry, peptide/antibody chemistry, hydrogels, and advanced purification and analytical techniques. Experience in drug delivery is highly desirable. The research will address applications in CNS, pain, obesity, ocular, and aging disorders, and will involve both in vitro and in vivo characterization of polymer technologies.

The position is for 1–2 years, with a competitive salary and the possibility of extension based on performance. Candidates must demonstrate strong collaboration, writing, and communication skills, and will work closely with Prof. Kannan Rangaramanujam, Prof. Sujatha Kannan, and Prof. Kunal Parikh. Applicants are encouraged to send a CV and cover letter to Prof. Kannan at [email protected], and should be prepared to provide letters of reference from previous and current mentors or supervisors.
