The Department of Nutrition and Integrative Physiology at the University of Utah, in collaboration with the Huntsman Cancer Institute, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in the lab of Dr. Mary Playdon. This role is part of a multi-institutional NIH U01-funded project within the Metabolic Dysregulation and Cancer Risk (MeDOC) consortium, which aims to uncover the mechanisms linking obesity, metabolic dysregulation, and increased risk of colorectal cancer.

The successful candidate will lead epidemiological studies that integrate lipidomics, metabolomics, dietary intake data, and cancer outcomes to identify novel biomarkers and mechanisms connecting diet, obesity, metabolism, and cancer risk. Responsibilities include conducting epidemiologic analyses using human cohort data, applying molecular profiling techniques, investigating metabolic pathways, collaborating with national and international partners, preparing manuscripts, presenting at conferences, assisting with grant writing and reporting, mentoring junior researchers, and ensuring compliance with IRB protocols and data security standards.

The position is funded for up to two years with the possibility of renewal and offers a competitive salary of $62,232 per year plus benefits. Applicants must hold a PhD in Epidemiology, Nutrition, Public Health, or a related field, and demonstrate experience in population-based research, statistical modeling, and scientific writing. Proficiency in statistical software such as R or SAS is required, and candidates should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
