About this position

Texas State University’s Ultrawide Bandgap Semiconductor Lab (UWBG), led by Dr. Ariful Haque, is recruiting Postdoctoral Research Fellows for an NSF-funded center and a DoD-funded project. The research is centered on ultra-wide bandgap (UWBG) semiconductor fabrication, heterointerface studies, and characterization, with a strong emphasis on thin-film and device-materials research.

The lab works on carbon-, III-nitride-, and oxide-based UWBG nanostructures and thin films, including heterogeneous integration of materials such as diamond, GaN, AlN, AlGaN, and β-Ga2O3. The group also uses pulsed laser deposition, pulsed laser annealing, sputtering, HFCVD, XPS, ellipsometry, Hall measurements, SEM, TEM, AFM, XRD, Raman, and electrical characterization tools. This makes the position especially relevant for candidates interested in materials science, electrical engineering, physics, and semiconductor processing.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in EE, Materials Science & Engineering, Semiconductor Physics, or a related field by the time of appointment. The post specifically asks for hands-on experience in thin-film/semiconductor fabrication and characterization, a strong publication record, and preferably experience in wide bandgap semiconductor research, deposition, characterization, and electron microscopy. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, proactive, able to work independently and in teams, and interested in publishing, proposal writing, and mentoring graduate students.

The role is full-time and on-site in San Marcos, Texas, at Texas State University. Funding includes salary support plus retirement and fringe benefits. Applications are being accepted immediately, and candidates are instructed to upload an updated CV through the provided link.
