Postdoctoral Researcher in AGI Reasoning, World Modeling, and Neuro-Symbolic Learning at KAIST Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in South Korea

Machine Learning and Mind Lab (MLML) at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to work on fundamental challenges toward AGI.

The research focus includes reasoning, abstraction, world model learning and planning, compositional generalization, neuro-symbolic world learning, and causal discovery. The broader lab also highlights interests in next-generation foundation architectures, embodied physical AI, robot learning, agent AI, and scientist AI.

The position is announced by Sungjin Ahn, Associate Professor in the School of Computing at KAIST, with possible co-advising opportunities with Yoshua Bengio (Mila) and/or Mengye Ren (NYU). This makes the role especially relevant for candidates interested in collaborative, interdisciplinary machine learning research across Korea, Canada, and the United States.

Funding is provided through the InnoCORE Fellowship Program 2026. The post states a competitive salary of KRW 90M+ per year (approximately USD 60K+) and a renewable yearly contract.
