Description

The International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE), headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, is recruiting a Senior Project Manager to join the innovative SYMBIOVECTOR team. This role is central to advancing next-generation vector control programmes with a direct impact on malaria control and public health across Africa. The position is based at the ICIPE Duduville Campus and offers a unique opportunity to lead strategy, operations, partnerships, and delivery in a complex, multi-institutional research ecosystem with global relevance.

The Project Manager will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Human Health theme, driving the execution of high-impact scientific programmes. Responsibilities include project planning and implementation, team leadership and coordination, financial and resource mobilization, stakeholder engagement, monitoring and evaluation, and risk management. The role requires compliance with international research ethics, biosafety regulations, and national guidelines, ensuring scientific, technical, and policy-relevant outcomes.

Applicants must have a master's degree in public health, entomology, epidemiology, vector biology, environmental science, project management, or a related field, with at least 6 years of relevant experience. Experience in research management, vector control, and public health within a research organization, company, or university is essential. Core competencies include strong stakeholder engagement, relationship management, proactive problem-solving, decision-making, and excellent report preparation and presentation skills.

The compensation package is highly competitive, including housing and transport allowances, education allowance, comprehensive health and life insurance, offshore retirement package, paid annual vacation, and return airfare for the candidate and dependents. Relocation support is available for candidates appointed from outside Kenya. The initial contract is for 2 years, renewable subject to funding and performance.
