Applications are invited to undertake research on smart antennas for future mobile communications at a PhD level. The project will investigate the design of miniaturised, broadband and wideband antennas suitable for applications in 5G/6G and future mobile communications at both microwave and millimetre-wave frequency bands. It will involve electromagnetic modelling, simulation, construction and laboratory testing of various antennas and arrays for both mobile terminals and base stations.

Eligibility

The applicant should have at least a 2.1 honours degree or Master's degree in antennas, electromagnetic modelling or an electrical engineering subject, and meet the academic requirements for enrolment for a doctorate at the University of Manchester.

The applicant will be enthusiastic and have a rigorous and disciplined approach to research. Good team-working and communication skills are essential.
