About this position
The SigCom research group of SnT, headed by Prof. Symeon Chatzinotas, focuses on wireless/satellite communications and networking. The research areas focus on the formulation, modeling, design, and analysis of future 6G communication networks that are capable of supporting new services for digital ecosystems. Use cases of interest include Security and Efficient Wireless Communication Solutions, IoT verticals, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, Integrated Satellite-Space-Terrestrial Networks, Quantum Communications and Key Distribution, Spectrum Management and Coexistence, Tactile Internet, Earth Observation, and Autonomous Transportation. As far as technical enablers are concerned, we leverage expertise on advanced technologies including semantic/task-oriented data processing, signal processing, network resource management to improve the performance of the future wireless communication systems. Finally, due to the large-scale nature, complexity, and heterogeneity of 6G networks, for their analysis and optimization, we use tools such as artificial intelligence/machine learning, graph theory and graph-signal processing, and convex/non-convex optimization. Furthermore, our activities are experimentally driven and supported by COMMLab, 6GSPACE Lab, HybridNetLab, QCILab, TelecomAI Lab, CSAT Lab, our SW Simulators, and our Facilities. For further information, you may refer to https://www.uni.lu/snt-en/research-groups/sigcom/ .
The successful candidate will join the SIGCOM Research Group and contribute to AI-related projects at the intersection of advanced AI techniques – including Foundation Models/ Large Language Models, Generative AI, Federated and Decentralized Learning, Neurosymbolic and Hybrid AI, Self-Supervised and Few-Shot Learning – and their integration into wireless communications and edge computing systems. The position offers an exciting opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research that addresses both theoretical challenges and practical applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop innovative methods and tools for adaptive, AI-driven embedded algorithms to support real-time analytics and decision-making in IoT, wireless communication, and remote sensing systems
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in TelecomAI Lab to integrate AI models and tools into advanced telecommunication system architectures
- Support lab activities related to designing and optimizing AI implementations across various platforms, including embedded and edge computing environments (e.g., Jetson, Raspberry Pi, FPGA, neuromorphic chips)
- Publish results in top-tier journals and present at leading international conferences and workshops
- Contribute to research dissemination and outreach activities, including engagement with students and the broader public
For further information, please contact Prof. Eva LAGUNAS at [email protected] or Dr. Vu Nguyen Ha at [email protected] .
What's required
