Early Career Rescue Postdoctoral Fellowships in All Disciplines (Germany, 2026-2028)

The Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies (FRIAS), together with the Tübingen College of Fellows and the Zukunftskolleg Konstanz, is offering the Baden-Württemberg Early Career Rescue Fellowships for 2026-2028. This unique opportunity is designed for early career researchers from any discipline who are unable to continue their work in the USA due to political pressure. The program is open to candidates worldwide, provided they have between one and seven years of postdoctoral experience. Fourteen two-year postdoctoral fellowships are available, each offering a monthly salary of up to E14 (approximately 6,000 € pre-tax, before German social and health security contributions). Fellows will be hosted at one of the three participating universities—University of Freiburg, University of Konstanz, or University of Tübingen—according to their preference. The program aims to provide a supportive environment for excellent research, international networking, and interdisciplinary exchange within the Institutes for Advanced Studies. Applicants must demonstrate that their research is restricted in the USA due to actual political pressure. The fellowships are open to all academic fields represented at the host institutions, including but not limited to biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, computer science, political science, sociology, philosophy, psychology, economics, history, medical science, and environmental science. The program is funded by the State of Baden-Württemberg and offers access to resources, networks, and a vibrant international community of fellows. The application deadline is 9 January 2026, 11:00 am (CET). Interested candidates should consult the Programme and Application Manual and submit their application using the official Application Form. For further information or specific questions, applicants can contact the relevant institute: Zukunftskolleg (University of Konstanz), FRIAS (University of Freiburg), or Tübinger College of Fellows (University of Tübingen). This fellowship provides a valuable opportunity for early career researchers seeking academic freedom and international prospects in Germany.
