This program provides rigorous training in mathematical statistics and its applications to finance, economics, and data science. Students will work closely with internationally recognized faculty whose research covers financial econometrics, high-dimensional statistics, machine learning, nonparametric statistics, portfolio theory, and stochastic processes. The PhD program consists of a 2-year MPhil phase focused on coursework and foundational research skills, followed by a 3-year PhD phase dedicated to academic research and dissertation writing. Applicants should have a strong background in mathematics, probability theory, and statistics. While prior knowledge of finance and economics is not required, an interest in applying statistical models to these fields is advantageous.
