PhD in Robotics, Photogrammetry, and Computer Vision at University of Bonn

The Photogrammetry & Robotics Lab (Stachniss-Lab) at the University of Bonn is seeking a motivated and highly capable researcher (f/m/d) for a fully funded PhD position in the area of Construction Site and Infrastructure Monitoring with 4D Persistent SLAM. The lab is internationally recognized for its research in robotics, photogrammetry, and perception, and is part of one of Germany's Excellence Universities. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team working on developing novel solutions in robotics, with a focus on mobile robots, perception, and computer vision. The main goals include advancing the state of the art in robotics and perception, developing and coding new theoretical and practical solutions, evaluating systems with real sensor data and robots, and disseminating results through high-quality publications and open-source code. The position also involves supporting teaching activities and mentoring other students, as well as collaborating with external project partners. Applicants should have an MSc degree in computer science, robotics, geodesy, engineering, or a related field, with top grades (1.0 - 1.5, German scale). A strong background in robotics, computer vision/photogrammetry, or machine learning is required, along with excellent coding skills in C++ and Python. Very good English skills are essential; German is not required. The lab values teamwork, initiative, and a passion for working with real robots and sensors. Women are especially encouraged to apply. The position is fully funded (E13, 100% FTE) and based in Bonn, Germany. The application deadline is November 30, 2025, with a targeted start date in March/April 2026. To apply, candidates should upload a single PDF containing their CV, motivation letter, list of relevant courses and grades, transcripts, degree certificates, links to their MSc thesis and/or publications, links to their website/Github/Google Scholar, and contact details for two referees.
