Full Professor of Cybersecurity at University of Klagenfurt (Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Digitalisation)

The University of Klagenfurt, located in Austria, is seeking applications for a full professorship in Cybersecurity within the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity, Faculty of Technical Sciences. This position is open to candidates of all genders and is available from 1 September 2026. The successful candidate will represent the field of Cybersecurity in both research and teaching, contributing to Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral programs, including the international Master’s in AI and Cybersecurity. Research areas of interest include, but are not limited to, secure systems, software and network security, cryptography, cryptographic engineering, AI security, and emerging threats in autonomous and intelligent systems. Application contexts such as automotive systems, critical infrastructure, IoT, and healthcare are also relevant. The university encourages interdisciplinary collaboration, especially in its Areas of Research Strength: Digitalisation and Health, Multiple Perspectives in Optimization, Networked and Autonomous Systems, and the Cluster of Excellence Bilateral AI. Key responsibilities include teaching, supervision of student projects and theses, mentoring early career researchers, acquiring and managing research grants, collaborating with academic and industry partners, and participating in university management and public relations. Applicants must have a habilitation or equivalent in Computer Science or a related field, a strong research record in Cybersecurity, experience in third-party funded research, university-level teaching experience, and fluency in English. Desired skills include interdisciplinary work, scientific dissemination, leadership, teamwork, and diversity management. German language proficiency at B2 level is expected within two years but is not a prerequisite. The position offers a minimum gross salary of €92,460 per year, with the possibility of negotiation and a relocation tax allowance for the first five years. The contract may be open-ended or fixed-term (up to 6 years) with the option for permanent extension.
