Postdoctoral Fellowships in Climate, Sustainability, and Digital Transformation at Harvard Business School

Harvard Business School's Digital, Data, and Design (D^3) Institute, specifically the Climate and Sustainability Impact Lab, is seeking two postdoctoral fellows for the 2026-2027 academic year. The lab is at the forefront of research on how digital transformation and artificial intelligence in management and governance can drive financial, environmental, and social impacts. The research focus includes decarbonization, climate adaptation, climate finance, risk-sharing, and climate-induced financial risks, with broader interests in climate and sustainability research. Successful candidates will join a vibrant research environment led by Professors George Serafeim, Michael Toffel, and Peter Tufano. The position is based in Boston, Massachusetts, with a hybrid work arrangement requiring onsite presence. The annual salary is $75,000, and the appointment runs from July 2026 to June 30, 2027, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding. There are no teaching requirements, allowing fellows to focus on research. Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant field such as business, organizational behavior, economics, statistics, environmental or climate studies, or a related discipline. All degree requirements must be completed before the fellowship start date. Technical expertise in causal analysis, experimental and survey design, programming for data processing, statistical analysis (MATLAB, R, or Stata), large dataset management, and preferably machine learning is required.
