Research Assistant (PhD Position) in Functional Analysis at the Department of Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics at Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel is inviting applications for a research assistant (PhD position) in the field of functional analysis, starting October 1, 2026. This position is initially limited to three years and offers a part-time contract (75% of full-time, currently 29.025 hours per week) with a salary based on pay group 13 TV-L, provided tariff requirements are met. The role includes a regular teaching load of 3 hours per week and participation in the supervision of student theses, as well as involvement in administrative and organizational duties within the institute. The successful candidate will conduct research in functional analysis, with opportunities to engage in projects related to operator algebras, analytic group theory, and noncommutative harmonic analysis. The position is ideal for candidates aiming to pursue a doctoral degree in mathematics and seeking to advance their academic qualifications in a vibrant research environment.
