The Research Centre for Operations Research and Statistics (ORSTAT) at KU Leuven, Belgium, is offering a full-time PhD scholarship in the field of discrete choice experiments. The PhD project focuses on statistical analysis of discrete choice experiments, which are used to understand how individuals make decisions by selecting among carefully designed alternatives. The research aims to advance choice models to better reflect real-world decision-making, including aspects such as preference heterogeneity, choice heuristics, and context-dependent behavior. Outcomes of this research can be applied to product optimization and estimation of willingness-to-pay for specific attributes.

Applicants should demonstrate a strong interest in statistics, econometrics, or mathematics, and preferably possess a Master of Science in Statistics, Mathematics, Applied Economics, Business Engineering, Economics, Civil Engineering, or Computer Science. An average degree of 'distinction' in both bachelor and master studies is required, along with proficiency in English. Experience with programming languages, especially R, is considered an asset. Students currently completing their Master studies are also encouraged to apply.

The scholarship offers employment as a full-time doctoral scholar for one year, with the possibility of renewal up to a maximum of four years, contingent on positive evaluations.
