The University of Pretoria, in partnership with the Malaria Consortium, is offering the Dr Sylvia Meek Scholarship for Entomology for the 2026 academic intake. This prestigious scholarship supports a research-only MSc in Entomology, with a focus on public health, vector biology, and malaria control. The program is hosted by the Department of Zoology and Entomology and is designed to train the next generation of vector biologists in Africa, addressing the continent’s critical shortage of technical specialists in the fight against malaria and other vector-borne diseases.

Applicants must be nationals of eligible African countries and hold an Honours degree or equivalent in Entomology or a related biological science (NQF level 8). Candidates must be no older than 35 at the time of submission, demonstrate proficiency in English, and show a strong interest in medical entomology and vector-borne disease control.
