Funding
Each studentship covers full tuition fees at the home rate, an annual stipend at the UKRI rate (£22,780 for 2025/26, pro-rata for part-time), and research costs up to £1,000 per annum (pro-rata for part-time). The scheme also includes a skills development programme. Five scholarships are available for 4 years full-time or 7 years part-time.

Submit an online admissions application for a full-time or part-time MPhil/PhD in the eligible faculties via King's Apply by 12 April 2026. Include the funding code 2627-THM in the 'Funding' section of your application. Ensure all supporting documents and references are submitted by 26 April 2026. Contact King's Doctoral College for guidance or to register for online workshops and Q&A sessions.
Requirements
Applicants must be UK-permanent residents eligible for home fees and identify as Black British, Black or Black British African, Black or Black British Caribbean, Black or Black British other, or Mixed Black. Candidates must apply for a PhD to start in the 2026/27 academic year in the Faculty of Arts & Humanities, Social Science & Public Policy, or King's Business School. Students who have already commenced their doctoral degree at King's, distance learning programmes, MD(Res) programmes, professional doctorates, and joint PhDs are not eligible. All required supporting documentation, including references, transcripts, and certificates, must be submitted by the deadlines.
