About this position

The Computational Turbulent Reacting Flow Laboratory at Princeton University, led by Professor Michael E. Mueller, is seeking postdoctoral or more senior research associates to join their team in the field of atmospheric aerosol modeling. The position centers on developing advanced models and algorithms to study the evolution of inorganic aerosols in the atmosphere, building on the group’s established expertise in combustion-generated aerosols.

The research aims to elucidate the impact of inorganic aerosols on sunlight scattering and the nucleation of droplets and ice crystals, which are critical processes in atmospheric science and climate modeling. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with graduate students, other postdoctoral researchers, and experimental research groups, fostering a multidisciplinary approach to aerosol science.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, Geosciences, Computational Science and Engineering, or a closely related discipline. Strong preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in computational modeling of atmospheric aerosols and proficiency in parallel computing and software development. The appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal contingent on satisfactory performance and continued funding.

The position is based on campus at Princeton University and is subject to the university’s background check policy.
