Position Overview
The Marquette University Engine Research Laboratory invites applicants for a Postdoctoral Fellow to start on or about April 1st, 2025. The successful candidate will work with Prof. Adam Dempsey and a team of graduate students on multiple projects focused on developing prechamber-enabled mixing-controlled combustion with multiple fuels. The primary project supporting this position is from the Office of Naval Research on fuel-agnostic engine technology development. The review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborate on fuels and engine research related to fuel agnostic engine technology development. Help mentor graduate (Ph.D., M.S.) and undergraduate student research assistants. Co-author peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, proceedings papers, and/or conference posters. Be active in the scientific community and attend conferences yearly, preferably delivering a podium presentation or poster. Opportunities exist to learn about user-inspired research planning, intellectual property management, technology transfer, business modeling, start-up company functions, and industrial research.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Earned doctorate (or its foreign equivalent) or appropriate terminal degree.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Applicants must have previous experience in fuels and engine combustion research. A Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or a related field is required. Previous success publishing research results as author/co-author in peer-reviewed literature is required. Experience in engine experiments and computer modeling is required.
