About this position
Exciting MSc, PhD, and postdoctoral positions are available in the new Photonics Group led by Hongtao Wang at the School of Optics and Photonics, Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), Beijing. The group focuses on cutting-edge research across the full chain of micro/nanofabrication, optical field manipulation, and advanced information, imaging, and sensing technologies.
Key research directions include:
- Micro/Nanofabrication & Photonic Devices: Techniques such as electron beam lithography (EBL), femtosecond laser lithography, and two-photon lithography for creating 2D/3D micro/nanostructures and metasurfaces.
- Structured Light & High-Dimensional Optical Information: Research on orbital angular momentum (OAM) generation, manipulation, and detection, high-dimensional encoding, optical anti-counterfeiting, and information security.
- Intelligent Optical Imaging & Computing: Metasurface-assisted imaging and sensing, integration of BIC/EP physics with AI, and development of diffractive and on-chip optical neural networks.
Candidates with backgrounds in optics, instrumentation, artificial intelligence, physics, computer science, materials science, or micro/nanofabrication are encouraged to apply. The group values strong fundamentals and hands-on skills in experiment, fabrication, simulation, or coding. Students should provide transcripts as part of their application.
To apply, send a direct message on LinkedIn with your CV, a brief statement of research interests (0.5–1 page), transcript (for students), and representative papers (if any), or email these documents to [email protected]. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic research group at a leading Chinese institution and contribute to the advancement of photonics and AI-enabled nanophotonics.
