The GIMAP laboratory at the Centre International de Recherche en Infectiologie (CIRI), located at the Université Jean Monnet Saint-Etienne, France, is offering a PhD position focused on gut immunity and host-microbiota interactions. The research project investigates the role of secretory immunoglobulins A and M (SIg) in intestinal homeostasis, particularly their glycosylation patterns and impact on immune responses and microbiota composition in the context of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). The candidate will analyze SIg glycosylation in patients, correlate findings with gut microbiota, and use murine models to study the effects on intestinal inflammation. The project also aims to identify factors controlling SIg glycosylation, evaluating the roles of microbiota and inflammation.

The GIMAP team, led by Professor Stéphane Paul, provides a collaborative and dynamic research environment with access to state-of-the-art facilities in biochemistry, cellular biology, molecular biology, and animal housing.
