The University of Tasmania is offering a PhD position focused on predictive network modelling of Tasmanian lake ecosystems. This research aims to deliver dynamic models of population dynamics and species interactions, using systematic surveys of lake communities. The project will empirically test and refine model predictions through targeted lake- and mesocosm-scale manipulative experiments, ultimately generating decision-support scenarios to identify optimal trade-offs between biodiversity outcomes and ecosystem service provision.

This PhD opportunity is a collaboration between the University of Tasmania, Inland Fisheries Service Tasmania, Hydro Tasmania, and Anglers Alliance Tasmania. The successful candidate will receive a stipend of $34,315 per annum for 3.5 years, a $2,000 relocation allowance, and a tuition fees offset for domestic applicants.
